Two peas in a pod at Arcare Caboolture with Louise and Annette

National Carers Week (1117 October 2020) celebrates those that go beyond the call of duty to provide exceptional support and care. We are delighted to share this heartwarming story from Arcare Caboolture.

Arcare Caboolture resident, Annette Manning and Personal Support Worker, Louise Davis are an example of one of many strong friendships formed through Arcare Aged Care’s dedicated staff assignment model.

Former teacher and former real estate agent Annette’s journey at Arcare began when she joined the Arcare Caboolture community to be closer to her husband. Little did she know that she would form a lifelong friendship with kindred spirit, Louise.

They both share a passion for fashion, clothes and shopping and both understand what industrial washing machines can do to delicate fabric. With permission, Louise took Annette’s satin slip home to wash on delicate cycle so as not to damage the item.

A buzz of chatter and laughter is usually heard from the suite as Annette and Louise enjoy catching up and sharing life stories.

Louise looks to Annette as a mother figure and always looks out for Annette and her husband who are foodies. Louise brings in requested treats and drinks such as strawberries and glasses of soda and scotch for the couple to enjoy with their dinner.

When asked how to describe Annette and Louise’s friendship, Lifestyle Coordinator Sue Wilkinson states “they get along really well.

It’s always lovely to hear about the friendships taking place across the Arcare Community.
