After getting through the recent fires in Peregian, the team at Arcare Peregian Springs decided to put on a special morning tea for the local fire brigade.
The fires came very close to the residence, with flames burning the bushland and ashes floating into the rooms.
David and Bernie, two representatives from the Coolum Brigade came by the residence to meet grateful clients and team members.
The residence chef put together a delicious sponge cake as a gesture of our gratitude.
Brooke from Arcare also created personalised hampers filled with local goods from Byron Bay Cookies and The Ginger Factory to be shared with the other brigade members.
“We might give some of these a try before we bring them back to the station” Bernie joked.
“But in all honesty, it makes us feel really proud of the job we did on the night,” he said.
In a room of 30 people, clients Ralph and Shirley also stood up to give a short speech, thanking the fireys and the Arcare team members for their bravery and quick thinking.
“I know what the life of a fireman’s like having lived in a fire station from the time I was three years of age until I was 23,” Ralph said.
“We appreciate what you did on the night that you saved us, we do appreciate it very much and we wanted to say our real thanks for what you achieved.”
Shirley had the honour of cutting the cake with David and Bernie.
“I’d like to thank you, you were all down there and you were there with us, you never left us. It was very close,” Shirley said.
The team members at Arcare Peregian Springs also contributed to the safety and wellbeing of everyone.
“The Peregian Springs team did a great job at remaining calm and professional during the fires. They also responded really well to instructions from the fire brigade and that led to everyone’s safety being taken care of. So thank you to the team members at Arcare Peregian Springs.” residence manager Josey said.
Lifestyle coordinator Di also invited WIN News Sunshine Coast and Noosa News to the morning tea, where the fireys, clients and team members were interviewed.
Today’s morning tea was a great moment of our community coming together.
We sincerely thank the Coolum Fire Brigade for working tirelessly to put out the fires on 9th September 2019.
We cannot thank you enough for your service to the community and we strive to give you the recognition you deserve.
