There were three cheers for 101 years at Arcare Oatlands last week, as everyone gathered to celebrate Reneh’s 101st birthday.
Reneh inspires everyone with her humous personality and enthusiasm for life – taking every opportunity to laugh and dance.
She gave everyone at Arcare Oatlands 101 reasons to celebrate.
Lifestyle team member Krystal arranged a beautiful celebration with ‘101’ balloons, music, cake and champagne to highlight the special occasion.
The personal touches made it all the more special; the cake made by the residence chef and piano music performed by Arcare team member Jenny, who came in especially for Reneh.
As Reneh made her way to the celebration area, everyone began singing happy birthday.
Reneh began to cry, overwhelmed with the love and attention from her community.
She cut her cake, popped the champagne and enjoyed music with all her family and friends.
We asked her daughter Wedad what her mum’s secret was, and she proposed, ‘it must be good genes!’
Reneh loves a good dance, so there was no surprise that she was up dancing her traditional middle eastern dance with the biggest grin across her face.
Although Reneh can only speak French and Arabic, she somehow communicates to everyone with her cheer and humour.
Everyone had a blast celebrating with her and loved taking photos with the party props.
‘I thought it was something more than worthy of celebrating and a wonderful milestone,’ said Mary.
‘She is just so amazing.’
At 101 years old, Reneh is still attending her daily exercise classes, looking the part on any normal day and participating in everything that she can.
‘It’s not every day that you hear of someone turning 101 years old,’ said Lifestyle team member Krystal.
‘It was a special occasion and I am so glad that we celebrated with her.’
Reneh and her family felt the love on this day, so grateful to have shared the occasion with everyone at Oatlands.
