Young student, Dylan is currently working at Arcare Epping, as a part of his student placement. Dylan is on placement for all of 2019, and as a part of his placement, he needed to complete a project, that detailed and explored his time working at the aged care residence.
During his time at the residence, Dylan formed a close friendship with client, Jim. Jim and Dylan would often sit together and talk about their lives, asking each other a range of questions, to better understand the other.
Jim was only too happy, to share his life story and all the different experiences he has had over his life, with Dylan. The pair spent weeks focused on discussing Jim’s background, family and employment history. Dylan simply couldn’t get enough time with Jim, and Jim loved the attention and compassion Dylan was showing him.
Dylan decided that with all the amazing information, Jim has shared with him, that he was going to base his project off Jim. Dylan started work on Jim’s biography, recalling all the important dates and pivotal life moments they had discussed. Dylan even started taking photos on Jim and scanning old copies of photos to include in the biography.
Finally, the book was complete and Dylan decided to present a copy to Jim for him to keep. Jim was overjoyed to receive a copy, and so pleased with the way that Dylan captured the essence of his life. Jim’s wife, Margaret and his children also commented on how much they liked it and couldn’t thank Dylan enough, for all his hard-work.
