Ted and Stephen, from Arcare Keysborough, shared their stories with us at a moving Anzac Day service in April.
Ted spoke about his father who served during the war and Stephen shared how he was conscripted for National Service in 1952.
Stephen served in the RAAF for six months, where he was promoted to Acting Corporal after only three months.
He was trained as a Fitter Amourer in the Aircraft Research and Development Unit. He was then discharged with recommendation for service in the regular air force, where he served in the reserves for a further five years.
It was an important afternoon for residents and staff as we paid our respect to those who sacrificed and served in the war.
