Nola has only been at Arcare Keysborough for a month, but already she has become a familiar face with fellow residents and staff, especially when she has Milly the dog with her.
‘I had a very interesting life, travelling and seeing the world,’ Nola said, ‘I moved to London by ship when I was 18.’
In England she settled in Earls Court, an area fondly referred to as Kangaroo Valley because of all the Aussie migrants.
‘I worked at various jobs from temping in England to being a kitchen hand in Germany,’ Nola recalled, ‘I saw my very first white Christmas in Switzerland. I was so excited I ran out in my nightie!’
Upon moving back to Melbourne, Nola settled in Highett and then Seaford before coming to Arcare Keysborough for more support.
‘Everyone from the staff to the residents have been so welcoming,’ Nola said, ‘they really do treat you well.’
‘The fantastic thing is that I can bring Milly in to visit me. I haven’t told her yet that she’s a D.O.G, she is my little princess.’
