In September, the Arcare Reservoir community celebrated Fijian culture, as a part of the community’s lifestyle program. This year, Arcare Reservoir have been trying to celebrate and appreciate a different culture each month of the year.
The lifestyle team decided to celebrate and recognise Fijian culture, as they knew that a few team members were keen to share their Fijian backgrounds and customs with the community.
Team members and clients dressed in tropical attire, with team members going around to each client to present them with a lei.
At lunchtime, traditional Fijian dishes were on offer, as clients and team members were encouraged to share a meal together. After everyone had finished lunch, a group of team members announced that they had been practicing a special dance performance for the occasion. The group were excited and nervous to show off their moves to the community, however when the music started playing their confidence and pride in their culture truly shone through.
It was a fantastic day, with a lot of team members, who were not rostered to work, showing up to support the day.
