On Tuesday 29th October, the wonderfully witty and humorous, Gwen celebrated her 102nd birthday.
Gwen currently resides within the Arcare Carnegie community, and to celebrate her special day, several team members and clients offered to take her out to lunch. Gwen suggested they have lunch at the Bentleigh RSL, as it is one of her favourite places to enjoy a meal.
When Gwen returned from lunch, her dedicated carer, Lyn was waiting for her, to present her with her birthday cake. The community gathered around Gwen to sing her Happy Birthday and watch as she blew out all the candles on her cake.
Gwen is an endearing woman, who on a daily basis, loves to attend the walking group, Happy Hour and enjoys cracking jokes with all the team members and people who visit the community. Gwen is the type of person who is always keen to get involved and give anything a try, at least once.
Gwen demonstrated her can-do, positive attitude, the day before her 102nd birthday, when she insisted that she cook the BBQ lunch for all the clients at Arcare Carnegie. When Gwen was asked if she would like any help with the BBQ, she replied, “Don’t worry about me… I’ve cooked more BBQs in my life than probably anyone on Earth!”
Arcare and the Carnegie community would like to wish Gwen a very Happy 102nd Birthday and Happy Returns.
