National Carers Week runs from 13th-19th October and recognises the outstanding role that carers play in the community. National Carers Week is an opportunity to raise awareness of and show appreciation for those in caring and nursing roles.
On Wednesday 16th October, the Arcare Parkview community celebrated all of their wonderful carers by throwing them all a special afternoon tea.
Clients and team members gathered together in the upstairs lounge, to enjoy delicious party food and watch the announcement of the carer raffle.
However before the excitement of the raffle could unfold, lifestyle coordinator, Annabel said that she had a special surprise for all of the carers. Annabel had recorded special video messages from each client, thanking the team for their care, compassion, dedication and hard-work in their roles.
Everyone clapped and cheered, as they watched the very special video.
There were a total of five lucky team members, who won prizes in the raffle. All of the winners were all thrilled and were excited to go home and enjoy their prizes.
Before the end of the festivities, all of the available carers gathered together to cut the celebratory cream cake.
Lifestyle coordinator, Annabel said “It’s was so great to see so many clients come along, to thank and support their carers. I don’t think that we have ever had this many clients come along to a social event, which just goes to show, how much they love and appreciate their carers.”
Arcare would like say a massive thank-you to all of our wonderful carers, across all of our aged care communities in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. You all do amazing and difficult work on a daily basis, and we truly appreciate everything you do for our clients and the community as a whole.
