It has been two months since we introduced virtual reality at Arcare North Shore and everyone is loving it!
The men’s group at the residence is no exception. They are the first men’s group to partake in this exciting activity.
For their virtual reality adventure, they all chose to walk down the streets of scenic England.
Some of the streets were familiar to the men as they had the opportunity to experience it firsthand when they travelled to England.
As they explored the streets and admired the landmarks, they enjoyed recapping their holiday experience and reminiscing on how wonderful it was to be standing in front of the Big Ben once again, and taking all of its splendour in.
After an exciting trip down memory lane, they decided to have a very different change of scenery.
In just a few short moments, they were about to be transported to a whole different continent – Africa!
When they arrived, they went for a hike in the wild with some gentle elephants.
This was something that all the men had not done before in their lifetimes!
They described it as a “once in a lifetime experience” and they were so happy to have had the opportunity to experience it through virtual reality.
To people from older generations, virtual reality can be considered too high-tech and intimidating as they do not understand how it all works.
But on this occasion, the virtual reality experience was positively life-changing for the clients at Arcare North Shore.
When they put on the headset for the first time, they were amazed to see how realistic the experience is and now they can’t wait to have another go!
This is truly a very addictive experience for all.
