What does the Residence Manager do

An aged care Residence Manager (RM) oversees day-to-day operations, including managing staff and budgets, regulatory compliance, and building relationships.

Running an aged care residence requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and a deep commitment to the wellbeing of residents. It can be a complex and demanding role, but it can also be incredibly rewarding to see the positive difference made in the lives of older people and their families.

What does an aged care Residence Manager do?

Some responsibilities of the manager or administrator of an aged care residence include:

Ensuring the facility meets all regulatory and legal requirements

Aged care facilities are subject to a range of regulatory requirements. It is the RM’s responsibility to ensure the facility complies with all regulations and requirements.

Managing staff

This involves recruiting, training, and managing a team of aged care workers, nurses, and support staff.

Financial management

RMs manage the aged care residence’s budget and financial resources so that the facility operates efficiently and cost-effectively.

Maintaining high standards of care

RMs ensure the residence provides high-quality care and support to residents, and that staff are trained and equipped to provide the best possible care.

Building relationships with residents and their families

RMs play an important role in building positive relationships with residents and their families, and addressing any concerns or issues that arise.
