Wearing your favourite pyjamas to work for National Pyjama Day

In celebration of National Pyjama Day 2019, clients, volunteers and team members at Arcare Sanctuary Manors put on their best pyjamas and got ready for a sleepin’ good time!

The day started off with a special high tea where a delicious variety of cake, muffins, lamingtons, tea and coffee were offered to everyone participating. Team members had decorated the tables and the library with flowers to make it look more like high tea session!

Everyone looked so comfortably quirky in their range of pyjamas, there polka dots, stripes, Ugg boots, snowmen, heart shapes, florals and sheep printed designs!

Team member Rachel said, “I love being able to wear my polka dot pyjama to work and be able to support a great cause too!”

National Pyjama Day is an important cause for everyone as it brings awareness and helps to raise funds for children in foster care.

Our local knitting group of ladies also contributed by knitting beanies for the children.

After spending a morning with our lovely clients, where Pyjama Angel Pam, a volunteer from the Pyjama Foundation gave a touching speech about what they do.

Every week, Pam makes the time in the afternoon to read to her special foster children.

With 18 people at the high tea, the team was able to raise $80 for the National Pyjama Foundation. Now, they will be able to buy puzzles and boardgames for the children!

Our clients are very happy and proud of the fact that they are able to give back to the community.

“I had a great day at the morning tea and I really hope the foster children will wear our knitted beanies. We knitted them with love,” Peggy Boddy said while wearing her floral pyjamas.

Instead of wearing their normal day clothes, being able to do and wear something different for a wonderful cause also gave them a sense of creativity and individuality.
